LATTICE shelf
Horizontal and vertical elements intersect to create spaces between, giving the shelving planes an open and airy quality. This also allows light to penetrate, reducing the heavy and enclosing quality of common box-like shelving construction.
The central opening is a focal point that is framed by the surrounding structure, while the pinwheel arrangement also lends movement and dynamism. The material palette of wood and steel lend warmth and structure to the piece.
These individual elements are notched and keyed to each other where they cross. This creates a simple, unique joining system providing great rigidity and strength - without requiring any cross-bracing or additional support. This construction technique may also be utilized to create a wide range of additional designs, with a variety materials.
Materials: Ash hardwood (horizontal elements), coated steel (vertical elements)
Dimensions: H 48", W 60", D 12.5"
